Löyly is the wave of heat and humidity that rises when water hits hot stones. Good löyly depends on more than temperature — the room needs the right bench height, airflow, heater position and stone mass so that warm, humid air reaches the bathers instead of collecting above them.

A sauna here has to deal with real winter. Insulation, vapour control, exterior weather protection, glazing, heater sizing and drying all matter more when the temperature drops. That is part of the reason the wall assembly behind the cedar gets as much attention as the cedar itself.
